As the tagline of Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! suggests, this movie is all about the personal tussle between the two heroes trying to win over their love. The movie revolves around Shoaib Khan (Akshay Kumar) taking over as the reigning don after killing his predecessor Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn). Despite having extended his empire to the Middle East, his confidantes comprise only of his old-time love Mumtaz (Sonali Bendre) and Aslam (Imran Khan), a youth spotted by him during a visit to his old slum.
He takes a liking to a rising starlet, Jasmine (Sonakshi Sinha), which later becomes obsession thereby leading to a rift between Shoaib and Aslam, who also vies for Jasmine's love.
