Sanjay Leela Bhansali's search for a dancing diva has finally ended with Priyanka Chopra. But what about Bhansali's blue-eyed girl Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who was reportedly in advanced talks to dance her way to a comeback with 'Ram Leela'.

With the Bachchan bahu confirming a meeting with the director, a bigger collaboration seems to be in the offing. "We did meet. Please wait for an official announcement which will be made soon," said Aishwarya. Meanwhile Bhansali is busy preparing for the elaborate number which will see Priyanka matching steps with the film's lead actor Ranveer Singh.

The shooting will take place next week in Film City and Anju Modi, who designed the outfits of the film's leading lady Deepika Padukone, has already fashioned costumes for Priyanka. A source close to Priyanka told TOI, "Bhansali met Priyanka two months ago to discuss the song in detail. Priyanka loved the idea but dates were a concern as she is also shooting for Gunday and Mary Kom simultaneously."

Speaking about Aishwarya's involvement in the scheme of things, the source added, "Bhansali likes to meet a lot of people before he finalises anyone. But it looks like he has something bigger planned for Aishwarya, may be a different film altogether. Source – Times of India

Lady Gaga released the music video to her latest single "Applause" on Monday morning. The video made its debut on "Good Morning America" after a live appearance from Lady Gaga. The pop star sat down with the hosts of "GMA" to discuss her hip injury, her new music video, and her new look.

The visuals to "Applause" show Gaga in various levels of dress, from a full black hooded bodysuit, to almost entirely naked, with just seashells or a set of hands covering her breasts. While parts of the video are shot in stark black-and-white, others are done in striking color with Gaga sporting dramatic makeup and get-ups. Watch the music video for "Applause" above.

Originally hyped to hit airwaves on August 19, "Applause" saw a rushed release last week after the single was leaked. Lady Gaga took to Twitter last Monday to announce that "due to hackers" and "an abundance of low/high quality leaks" the single would make its debut early.

Lady Gaga is set to perform "Applause" live for the first time at this Sunday's Video Music Awards on MTV. Other artists scheduled to perform at the upcoming awards show include Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, and Kanye West.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced the main slate of films scheduled to screen alongside the premieres of "Captain Phillips," "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and "Her" at the 51st annual New York Film Festival. Cannes Palme d'Or winner "Blue is the Warmest Color," the Joel and Ethan Coen film "Inside Llewyn Davis," Alexander Payne's "Nebraska" and new films from James Franco, Richard Curtis, J.C. Chandor and Jim Jarmusch will all screen at NYFF in 2013.

"Cinema is a vast terrain with a complex ecology, encompassing a mind-bending array of species and habitats –- there are multiple approaches to the question 'What is a movie,' from the industrial to the hand-made, from the carefully written to the poetically assembled," director of programming and selection committee chair Kent Jones said in a statement. "I love the level of diversity in the main slate selections, which includes documentaries, biographies, comedies, adventures, epics, chamber pieces, elegies, explorations and affirmations. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did."

The 51st New York Film Festival runs from Sept. 27 through Oct. 13. The full list of main slate films, with synopses provided by NYFF, can be found below.

Usually the wait for the actors between two shots is a little long as the production team needs to change lights and other set up according to scenes.

For Yash Raj Films' next film 'Shuddh Desi Romance' starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor which is a love triangle set up in the city of Jaipur, the actors got into a serious activity during the wait.

The story of the film revolves around the theme of love and casual relationships in small towns and how couples are comfortable sharing spaces with their partners. For a scene in Shuddh Desi Romance, Sushant and Parineeti are seen reading a love story. Even after the director cut the short, the actors were engrossed in reading the book till the set up of the next shot was done.

Both Sushant and Parineeti were reading a book of the same genre i.e. love but in different languages. In fact the book that the handsome hunk was reading was procured from the city where they were shooting i.e. Jaipur and is one of the best sellers there.

Back in 2011, when 'Bodyguard' released, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were seen in a special song in the movie, 'Aaya Re Aaya'. Katrina had reportedly agreed to do the song after Salman's sister Alvira and her husband Atul Agnihotri, also the producer of the movie, had requested her to do so. This time, too, for his next production, Atul has apparently managed an encore.

It is rumoured that Katrina will yet again be seen with Salman in a special appearance. While it is not surprising that the latter will be seen in a cameo, the movie reportedly has an item number as well, the audio track of which is currently in production. Though everyone involved with the film is being tight-lipped about the item song, the story doing the rounds is that Katrina has been approached.

Atul, however, maintains that the song is still being worked upon and no leading lady has been approached for it yet. "Guest appearances in movies usually translate into songs. The official trailer of Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film Krrish 3 has broken the record of being the most-viewed video on YouTube for a Bollywood film. Not only this, the trailer has also broken the record of upcoming Hollywood films Avengers 2 and Thor 2. Launched on August 5, Krrish 3 trailer got around 48 lakh views in the first 3 days and crossed 70 lakh views in 6 days.

At the time of going to press the number of views was over 1 crore 33 lakh. While the views of Avengers 2 trailers were around 60 lakh and Thor 2 had been viewed by over 32 lakh people. “I’m delighted with the response to the teaser. I am glad I can serve my audience with something to aspire for, something inspiring,” Hrithik says.

Alex Band, the lead singer of rock band The Calling, was abducted and beaten in Michigan early Sunday morning, TMZ first reported.

TMZ reported Band was walking to a mini-mart in Lapeer, Mich., around 4 a.m. on Aug. 18 when a van pulled up alongside him and the vehicle's passengers grabbed him. They reportedly beat the musician badly and dumped him near some train tracks. His bandmates -- who gathered together to search for Band after one member noticed he was missing -- found him later that morning.

A statement sent to The Huffington Post from the Lapeer Police Department states a member of the band The Calling reported being forced into a blue-colored minivan-style vehicle between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. by two male passengers near South Main Street. He said he was assaulted, robbed and dropped off on another street in Lapeer.

The victim, who is unnamed in the report, was later taken to a local hospital with another bandmate, treated and released.

The incident is currently under investigation. Those with any information are asked to contact the Lapeer Police Department.

The Calling rose to fame in 2001 with the hit single, "Wherever You Will Go." The California-based group went on to enjoy more success with songs like "Adrienne," "Our Lives" and "Anything." In 2005, they went on an indefinite hiatus.

Last week, "Extra" reported The Calling has reunited to record some new renditions of their old hits for their upcoming album, “The Calling: 8 Track,” due out early next year. Neha Hinge entered glambiz after becoming Femina Miss India International 2010. And from there on it was a natural progression towards Bollywood.

Ask her about the transition and she quips, "So many people have asked me this question. Though it is right that many beauty pageant winners have made their way to Bollywood, but that was not the case with me. I am a computer engineer and took up a job after I won the contest. Since that was going well I never thought I would need to get into Bollywood. But that's when I got the offer for my first Bollywood film."

Neha, who was recently seen in her debut film Luv U Soniyo opposite Tanuj Virwani, adds, "And when I got the offer, I was very skeptical about saying yes to it. But my father told me that such opportunities come for a select few and since it has come your way you should take it up. And from then on I have never given it a second thought."

Neha adds, "Bollywood and fashion world are two completely different mediums. The only thing common is the confidence that you have to face the crowd or be in front of the camera. I have done so many shoots that I didn't feel uncomfortable or nervous in front of the camera even for my first shot."

Neha, who had recently visited Ahmedabad for promoting her film, was excited to see the river front and to add to her excitement was a boat ride in the river. She says, "This is the first time we are doing something like this. We have been to many cities for promotions, but this is unique. I would always remember my trip to Ahmedabad."

Though, still new in the industry, Neha is taking things slowly. She says, "I haven't yet signed any film, but I am open to different kinds of roles. It's not only about being seen everywhere, it's also about whether the audience wants to see you or not. And that's why I want to wait and see how the audience like me and then take my next step. Starting off with a romantic film is more like a safe bet because we all know that love stories never go out of fashion. And even though there is audience for off-beat films as well, I have taken a more tested route."

War of Liberation of Bangladesh has been the subject of many creative visual works over the decades, whether films, documentaries or TV plays.

Now, based on a concept by Dr. Enamul Huq, actress-director Hridi Huq has written and directed a film serial for Channel i titled “1971: Sheishob Dingulo”, attempting to portray the picture of the country during the Liberation War, and stories of the lives of masses through that struggle.

The research-based docu-fiction will feature footage and documents from the Liberation War, set off by a fictional script.

At the end of every even-numbered episode will be an interview of a Freedom Fighter or witness of war, which will be conducted by Subarna Mustafa.

The episodes were shot in Thakurgaon, Panchagar, Rangpur and Gazipur.

The illustrious cast of the show includes Ataur Rahman, Jhuna Chowdhury, Mosharraf Karim, Litu Anam, Tisha, Sajal, Romana, Tanzika Amin, Shaju Khadem, Sajjad Reza, Samia, Proshun Azad, Nilufar Banu Lily, Parveen Lopa and Zakir Rony.

Having stepped into the film industry at the age of 20 with her first film 'Issaq', Amyra Dastur says she is scared of the glamour world and is finding it difficult to deal with it.

"I'm an introvert and a shy person. I'm having a tough time coping in showbiz. I'm absolutely terrified of it. Each time you walk out, somebody wants to click a picture. I never really wanted to act for fame," she says.

But acting has been her dream and she plans to continue with it. She is looking at other film offers, but refuses to reveal anything unless the deal is sealed. "My bua is very superstitious, she's asked me not to reveal anything unless I sign on the dotted line. As soon as I do, I'm going to tell everyone. Even I have become superstitious like her - like I would never open an umbrella under the roof, it's considered a bad omen," Amyra says.

Though she was born and brought up in Mumbai, Amyra says her Hindi is not good and she is working on it. "My Hindi is not strong, I am a Parsi girl and we speak English and Gujarati at home, so I'm working on that," she says. Source- Times of India Learn more »

Born in Rourkela (Odisha), Nair grew up in New Delhi, but now lives between New York and Kampala, where she runs a movie school. Though Nair made some fine cinema, she also made some rank bad movies like Vanity Fair (adapted from Thackeray’s novel) and Kama Sutra among a few more. Her latest work, The Reluctant Fundamentalist (from a Mohsin Hamid work), played at Venice last year, but could only garner mixed reviews.

A short film centered around the 1984 anti-Sikh riots has been selected for screening at this year's Venice Film Festival.
"Kush" is a 20-minute film based on a real-life incident about a teacher who saves a Sikh student during the riots following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards.
The film, made by 21-year-old Indian film student Shubhashish Bhutiani, will be screened in the festival's "Orizzonti" section, which showcases new trends in world cinema.
It is the only Indian film to be screened at the 70th edition of the festival, which kicks off with the George Clooney starrer "Gravity" on August 28.
Shot on a shoestring budget of 8 lakh rupees and with help from friends and parents during the shoot, Bhutiani says he didn't tell anyone he was entering his film in the festival.
"I had absolutely no hopes that it would be selected. I just entered it and didn't tell anyone," he told Reuters over phone from New York, where he is studying filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts.
Bhutiani said he was inspired to make the film after he heard his own teacher narrate her experience.
"I am taking a stand against violence, I guess. But otherwise, my film is about the characters and their story. I am not making any political statement."
The riots killed nearly 3,000 people, most of them Sikhs.
Bhutiani said he wasn't sure if the film would be released in India, given that the market for short films is virtually non-existent in the country.
"I am OK with it never releasing in India, because I know what the market is like. But I would like it to travel to festivals all over, because it shows a positive, human side of India that I would like everyone to see. Source-Reuters.com Learn more »

When Imtiaz Ali began filming his new movie "Highway", the Bollywood filmmaker had little more than a one-line script for a story he came up with years before his industry debut as a director.
Ali, 42, shot the film sequentially and often improvised dialogue on set, relying on the ambience to decide what his characters would do in a particular scene.
"(The film) is all about the journey influencing you. If you have already decided the influence, then it is a fake journey," Ali told Reuters in an interview. "If you have the guts, keep the script open."
"Highway", starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, is a road movie about two individuals thrown together during a journey. The film, which opens in cinemas at the end of the year, was filmed in Kashmir, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.
The director said he sometimes scouted film locations on the eve of filming, often changing scenes depending on how his cast reacted and expanding on the characters as the film evolved.
"Alia had never been exposed to that kind of terrain in her life," said Ali. "I changed my script because her experience is more real that what I felt when I wrote it."
"There are many drafts when a script is written - but this one has just one draft and that draft got over when the shooting got over."
The journey is a recurrent theme in Ali's films, nowhere more so than in his 2007 box-office hit "Jab We Met" which had two strangers falling in love after a chance meeting on a train.
It was this fascination with travelling that gave Ali the premise for "Highway" much before he made his Bollywood debut with "Socha Na Tha" in 2005. He found himself drawn to the story again after continuing his remarkable box-office run with "Love Aaj Kal" and most recently "Rockstar".
"There is some charm in a film that you have been speaking about to your friends for 15 years and you still continue to do so," said Ali. "I thought if the story has held on for so long, the best way to tell it would be the simple way."
Ali said he wanted to capture the interplay between the two characters of "Highway" and the emotions they go through. But his unconventional style of filming wasn't child's play.
"Your crew is lugging equipment for three hours in a remote village in Kashmir or Himachal and they don't know whether you will have a script at the end of the day or not," he said.
Did he know how the film would end or was it left till the last minute?
"No, I knew how it would end, I had a pretty good idea," said Ali. "The end is the point of the film." Source- reuters.com Learn more »

Riteish Dehmukh has rubbished rumours that Yash Raj Films advanced the release date of Shuddh Desi Romance to avoid a clash with Grand Masti, which is scheduled for a September 13 release.
He said that Shuddh Desi Romance is supposed to premiere at a film festival and that is why the release date has been shifted to September 6 from September 13.
"What I know is that Shuddh Desi Romance is supposed to be premiered at some film festival and that is the reason they (the makers of the film) have shifted the date. This is what I have read and want to believe this," the 34-year-old said on Monday at a radio station where he was promoting Grand Masti.
"Every film has its own strength and Yash Raj has never let go of its dates. But they did so this time because of the festival," he added.
Riteish's Grand Masti co-stars Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi were also present with him. Shuddh Desi Romance stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and newcomer Vaani Kapoor.
Talking about the box office business when two films release together, Riteish gave the example of Chennai Express and Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!.
"If Chennai Express and Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara had released on the same date, then the record-breaking collection that Chennai Express has done would have been doubtful," Riteish said.
"But it's great that both films decided to release on different dates as this will help the films and the audience," he added.
Initially, Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara and Chennai Express were supposed to have an Eid release, but the producers of both the films decided to shift dates.

Ameesha Patel's first production venture Desi Magic has gone on floors and the actress looks at her maiden project in the same way as a mother would look at her 'new born baby'.
"I feel like a mother who is creating this new born baby in Desi Magic," the actress said on the sidelines of a photo shoot for a magazine.
"I am seeing it taking its (baby) steps, learning to crawl, learning to walk, having its falls while learning to walk and coming through each hurdle. And now with Desi Magic going on floors, I feel I have sent my kid to school. I just want it to graduate with flying colours."
The actress is playing a double role for the first time in the film and admits it is very challenging. "I have never played a double role in my life. This needs a lot of homework because characters are poles apart. They are like cheese and chalk," said Ameesha who made a successful debut alongside Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai in 2000.
"There are days when I am going to be changing my costume, look, make-up, hair and attitude seven-eight times a day when both Ameeshas actually come together and I have to be completely familiar with both the character of Mahie Deol from Punjab and Sonia Saxena, a spoilt child," she added.
